  • Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can refer your child to Brilliant Star Speech Pathology yourself. You only need a referral if you want to claim a Medicare rebate, or if you are using third party payments. Please call or email us to make an enquiry.
  • Can I claim payments from my private health fund?
Yes, we are registered with all major private health funds, however you should check with your fund to make sure you are covered for Speech Therapy. We do not use a HICAPS terminal for direct processing of rebates. Instead we will provide a receipt that you can use to claim your rebate.
  • How many therapy sessions will my child need?
Unfortunately it’s hard to estimate how long your child will require therapy. This will depends on the nature of your child’s communication difficulty. We will monitor and discuss their progress each session, and when your child is using speech and language at an age appropriate level we will stop therapy.
  • Where will my child be seen?
We are a mobile practice and offer speech therapy at your child’s child care centre, preschool, school, or at home. Please call or email us to make an enquiry.
  • Is there any government funding available?
Your child may be eligible for Medicare rebate. Only clients with a Chronic Disease Management Plan (formally EPC) referral from their GP are eligible. Please ask your GP about referring your child to Brilliant Star Speech Pathology. We provide speech pathology services for self managed and plan managed NDIS participants.
